What Is The Living Foods Lifestyle?
by Brenda Cobb

The Living Foods Lifestyle is more than just a diet. It is a way of taking total responsibility for your needs. The most nutritious foods are Living Foods consisting of young organic greens, power packed sprouted nuts, seeds and grains, fabulous fermented preparations and exciting dehydrated foods. Foods such as Rejuvelac and Energy Soup are the most complete foods that one can consume. When you add fresh wheat grass juice you have an unparalleled level of nutritious healing, vitality and health. All of these foods are prepared without cooking because cooking destroys the enzyme life force.

The Living Foods Lifestyle uses no meat, dairy or any other animal product. There is absolutely no need for these most destructive foods. Living Foods have been developed so that even the most severe digestive problems can be overcome through easy-to-digest high energy nourishment enabling your body to receive optimal nourishment.

Before I go into a thorough discussion of Living Foods, I would like to clarify some important points that have been a source of much confusion. First of all, Living Foods are not raw foods. Because of the unprecedented severe digestive and assimilation problems that now exist, the average person cannot digest raw foods. Even a simple sprout salad can present major digestive problems for many people. Foods such as hard root vegetables, tough fibrous vegetables and unsprouted nuts, seeds and grains, are indigestible. Therefore, the Living Foods Lifestyle incorporates these foods through special preparations such as sprouting of seeds, nuts, and grains, fermentation and blending with Rejuvelac for easy digestion.

The most important key in getting back to health is to use blended foods in small amounts frequently throughout the day. The key foods are Energy Soup, Rejuvelac and Wheatgrass Chlorophyll. These are the foods that I recommend for total health.

I realize that this may seem drastic when compared even to other Living Foods recipes, but if you are serious about reversing illness or getting back to health, I can assure you that this is perhaps the most beneficial way. Remember, this is a guide for the highest levels of health, which is so important especially for those combating serious illnesses.

There have been many students to study and practice the Living Foods Lifestyle, and there is absolutely no doubt that every one of these folks suffer from the inability to assimilate nourishment which makes them become extremely deficient. When easy-to-digest high energy nourishment is provided, changes are immediate for rebuilding health.

I cannot stress enough the importance of Energy Soup and other blended foods in order to give the body a chance to assimilate nourishment to supply the missing elements. Included are other recipes like protein nuggets, seed cheese, vege-kraut, almond cream, etc. These foods contain even more protein so they should be used sparingly.

It is important to realize that Energy Soup is a complete meal containing every nutrient in a balanced form that the body needs. There is no need to worry about not getting enough of a certain vitamin or not enough protein when you use high energy nourishment. There is more than adequate amounts of protein in Energy Soup, especially from the sprouted beans in the soup and the avocado which is a good protein source. Even the greens have an excellent abundance of protein. Protein nuggets and seed cheese are highly concentrated sources of protein with enzymes for easy digestion.

It is estimated that the body absorbs only 20%-30% of the protein in meat. Nut and seed protein however, is absorbed by up to 95% by the body especially when offered in an easy-to-digest form. Therefore, it is highly possible to get too much protein in a Living Foods type of diet. Foods such as seed cheese and protein nuggets should be used only as an occasional snack. Remember, eating for nourishment and not just for eating is perhaps the single most important thing that you could ever learn.

Because society turns farther and farther away from Nature as time goes by, more and more health conditions are manifesting and becoming increasingly more serious. Because of the severe digestive problems that 90% of the population is facing, it is imperative to have a means to help the body assimilate nourishment. Blending is a fabulous solution for our digestive problems. If Rejuvelac is used in blended recipes, blending does not remove or take out any element from the food.

Blending with Rejuvelac prevents the loss of vitamins because the high vitamin E content in rejuvelac acts as an anti-oxidant. Blending is a means to help us to chew our food in order to make it digestible because no amount of chewing can really provide us with the level of digestibility as blending, especially when blending with Rejuvelac, which contains a very high level of enzymes.

Ann Wigmore, "the Wheatgrass Lady", tried to make the Living Foods Lifestyle as simple as possible. High energy nourishment Energy Soup can be made in the morning and it will keep throughout the day. Protein nuggets and dehydrated bananas are excellent for traveling or to take along to avoid unhealthy snacks. It is very simple really. There is no need to be concerned with nutritional charts and graphs of vitamin contents and amounts because every element is present in Energy Soup in a most perfectly balance form.

The recipe for Energy Soup: All ingredients must be organic for optimum health.

1 to 2 apples (peeled), 1 – 1 ½ cups of sprouted lentils and mung beans, 1 tablespoon dulse, 2 cups Rejuvelac, lots of young organic greens like green or red chard, spinach, kale, collards, etc., a double handful of sunflower sprouts and a double handful of buckwheat lettuce, 1 – 2 avocados. Blend all well and enjoy the energy you will immediately feel.
